Title: Fairlane pinch weld black out
Post by: 1969 Cale II on August 19, 2015, 12:30:02 AM
Here are a couple of photos of what the body color overspray and pinch weld blackout look like. The spray really goes out a long way. This is a 68 Fairlane coupe, don't know the build date.

My first time posting photos. Now i need to lower the resolution. They take a few seconds to load, they are worth it.

Better resolution is always worth the wait!  ;)

Seems the Fairlanes got a crisp line compared to the fussy line said to be found on Mustangs. Perhaps a different technique in a different plant. I posted the pinch weld black out from my 67 Fairlane built in Atlanta. Looks similar to yours.

It's possible the "crispness" was created more by road abrasion than attention to detail during production.

See the picture in reply #4. Certainly looks like a brushed edge.

Just looks like the nozzle was real close on that one to me. Brushed examples I've seen look different and you can make out the brush details at some point.

68 & 69's (wish I had been taking pictures back then)  I've owned were all treated much like the Mustang and Cougars

Just my observations
