I was getting some parts off a 66 convertible at the salvage yard
the other day and noticed a few odd things on the car.
It is late build for 66 VIN 6F08T737753, door tag was gone but I'm
guessing July 66 or so production.
Door sill plates had 67 style blue Ford logo instead of black logo.
Core support to hood seal was held on with clips instead of staples.
On another note I bought my 65 6cyl out of a 65 Fairlane that was built
July 65 and the casting numbers on the engine are C6DE for 66 but the
engine was painted the correct 65 colors.
Anyone else seen any next year model parts on their car?

Have cars built likely around the same time as yours and after with the black logo. Yours may have been replaced or the sill plates replaced at some point in the past
Core support to hood seal was held on with clips instead of staples.
Could just be that the machine had problems and they substitued the clips instead, since I have pictures of other Dearborn cars likely built before and after your car with staples. This has been seen other years at Dearborn.

We often see the "next years" casting/engineering numbers on cars built before that production years. Chacking the casting dates support this and IMHO is the next step in the process to check ;)

Jeff, thanks for the reply.
When I saw the sill plates my first thought was that they
had been replaced but they were corroded so badly they
were either on since new or replaced early on.
So the core support to hood seal was held on with staples
even later on 67-68? Maybe they kept a box of clips
available in case they had trouble with the stapler as you
mentioned.

My July 65 Dearborn hardtop had a 1966 one piece emergency brake cable going to the rear brake drums. I thought this was odd but there was no place to attach the 65 cables nor were there openings in the rails to run the cables through. When I restored it I put a 65 two pc cable on it, but had to attached the cables to the rear floor pan like the 66.

Were the sill plates 67 or 68 style?
Not sure I know the difference.
Just noticed the blue Ford logo
that is usually black on 65/66

'67 have a small logo and have PRODUCT OF FORD MOTOR COMPANY. '68 just have a blue Ford logo in the middle.

Wonder how the service replacements were made,
current with production?
If this car has the 68 style then they are replacements
for sure, otherwise if they are 67 style then since the
car is a late 66 they may have used 67 parts on it.

Possible - of course you would want to find other cars built at the same plant, same period to help support the finding.

My July 66 Metuchen car has a 67 waterneck, and it had 67 brake caliper mounting bolts on one side, 66 on other side, and it also has a 65 T-10 4 spd instead of the normal toploader. Nothing too crazy. Jim
