I believe the 68 wide oval was a Goodyear.

I get into more trouble with spellcheck. I had just added "concours" to my personal dictionary.

Thanks for correcting my url goof (corrected on edit and noted in my original post).

Bingo!!!! Dino1 hit the nail on the head. I had the primary and secondary booster screws reversed.  :-[  Lesson learned and not soon forgot.. The car is running 100 times better so thanks to all for the feedback and help in solving this.

1964 1/2 - 1966 / Re: removing 1966 (289)heater core preparation
« Last post by Hipo giddyup on Today at 10:02:56 AM »
Sorry to disappoint but I didn't keep the hoses.  :-[ That was the reason why I took pics of the hoses and clamps to begin with. I wish I had the space to keep everything I find interesting from these cars!

Looks like they were cut outside the firewall and pulled through when they removed the heater core (they were quite short). I will say this, those hoses, although stuck to the heater core pipes, were made very well. Even with it's age, I could tell it was thick and like a "heavy" grade rubber. Now the son who was selling these parts had said it had likely been in their Dad's shop for 40 years. This could be why the hoses still seemed in good shape as I'm sure exposure and heat would likely degrade the rubber??

I think you have to be careful here because, for example, "wide oval" doesn't necessarily mean Firestone.  What is on your Marti Report?

+1, originals I have seen have a 'P' stamped into the middle of the edge that shows when installed.

The correct tires for your car would be what is listed on the Marti report.

Yes, all 5 should match.

All of the originals that I have seen have the tab running all the way across. IMO they were phosphate and oil finish. If your originals are not too badly pitted I would have them replated.
