It's a gorgeous car and worthy of any automobile collection, especially one that leans toward Unrestored original cars.

The deviation interior code on that one is cool.

My 66 Candy Apple Red coupe, which I sold in 2006, had the same 26A interior code, build date, engine type and assembly plant. Talking about a coincidence!

I like the completely unpainted waterpump bypass hose and clamps. Is it the flash or angle of the picture but is the air cleaner assembly a different color than the block?

Since the pieces would have been painted at separate times/places, it is normal for the shades to be off a tad.

You sure about that or have they simply peeled and fallen away?  ;)

We had a discussed about one of the other unrestored cars and in the pictures in Mustang Monthly the finishes and coatings did not always represent what they looked like in person.

My father's original '66 Sprint that is long gone also had the "26A" straight vinyl deviation. I loved it..

At any rate... I see under the trunk that there is a curious decal on the left upper side of the trunk.  In the pics, you cannot make out the decal, but my '66 Dearborn Sprint 200 Convertible (May 18th. '66 build) has a spot in the same identical area where a decal once was in the same area.

Any idea what the decal is?  I am dying to find out.

PS: Also, I love the "O.K." tag on the underside rear of the car.  It looks to me that its hanging off of the rear portion of the Driver's side leaf spring.  I have never seen one before..or If I did, I do  not ever remember seeing one..

Thanks,

Tony K.

You likely will not see many since it's thought that these tags might have been attached to one item on a shipping pallet and not each individual part. Once the pallet arrived at the line or warehouse for distribution to dealers the parts would have been separated and only one of maybe 50 items would have the tag.

We see them here and there from time to time - Unless :( some restorer makes a bunch and starts hangling them on every part of the car.

"If one is good - a bunch will win me a trophy!!"

Nope, you will just be that owner that we use as an example at the next (or more) Judging Classes ;)

also curious about the painted lower center drivers side valve cover bolt. 3 bolts visible on the valve cover are plated but 1 is painted?
