65 6cyl - Steering Stop Paint Daubs
« on: April 21, 2010, 10:48:43 PM »
I recently purchased used steering stops from a junkyard in CA.  These used ones have blue paint daubs on them.  My originals were so badly pitted there is no way to tell what, or even if, the color of any daubs would have been.  Since the new (used) stops could be from a SJ, NJ or Dearborn (my car is a 6cyl., Jan. ‘65 Dearborn) what are the chances that all 3 plants used the same codes?  Or, in other words, can I safely use the original blue marks from these steering stops.  Thoughts or comments please.  Thanks-Gary

I have seen bluish-green on 6 cyl steering stops.  Although, I think this is one of those things you should try to get more examples of before coming to conclusions.  Early cars may not have had the markings.
