Space saver canister color
« on: February 12, 2016, 09:00:26 AM »
Does anyone know what color red the space saver canister is?  Is there a specific color code or is there a rattle can that matches up.  I might be restoring one and I wanted to check before I have to do it twice.

I was able to match the color in a rattle can. Will try to look it up and post tomorrow. I have the original '69 and a nos 70's canister and it matched both very well.

Here is a pic of my original '69 and my NOS '71 canisters. The color is Krylon 2328 Red Pepper / Safety Red. Side by side you can see a very slight shade difference but I am pleased with the results. I hate to mix paint for such a small project when it is easily chanced if not pleased with the results. I can't post pics now but maybe it'll let me post later.

Still can't post pictures. I usually don't have trouble posting but today has been a no-go. Maybe tomorrow ;)

I never did post an updated pic of my finished canister.  I must say I am very pleased how it turned out.  Now if I could only remember where I put the top cap so I would not lose it.

Also used the recommended Krylon and equally happy with the results.  Obtained the paint at O'Rielly's. Installed in my 72.
