I still have the original battery for my '89 GT.  It has a white case but is BX-58C.  Are you sure that they used BX-63 in '86?

BX-63 is what the owner manual calls for.   Do you know the measurements of yours?

Ford changed the battery size sometime after 86.
My son's 89 LX 5.0 does use a larger case battery
(58 group) than what the 86 used.
I use to own a 86 SVO and it used a BX-63 battery.
