2227161 is typical 67-70 Mustang disc brake master. I don't know what 2227061 is .

Rich : The Bendix Master Cylinder you have with Casting # 2227061 is for 1967 Mustangs with Power Drum Brakes. It is original Ford Part # C7ZZ-2140-B, which was later replaced by Part # C7ZZ-2140-G.

Hope this helps.

I just removed the disc brake MC on my 65.  Part # 2225032, the Bendix logo, R5 and a date casting, which I can't decipher, 285.  Is this original or a replacement ?  Thanks for the help.  Brian

I believe 285 is the day of the year.

Quick way to tell on a 65 disc master without looking at the casting numbers which can be very problematic on a installed master is to see if it has the brass adapter fittings to adapt to the flared brake lines. The change over was in early 66 so if it has the brass adapters most likely it is still a original or at least a period master. The updated style had flared fittings made into the casting making the brass adapter unnecessary. The old style was superseded for the new style in dealer and auto parts stores stock. When they were used up the new style was sold.  The updated master would be a direct replacement needing no modification other then stretching the factory flared lines a little to compensate for the missing adapter length.

FYI NPD sells a special faux looking adapter which is actually a extension playing the part of a adapter. It gives the look of the old style 65 disc brake master adapter to a later 66 style master.

I'd say original. Here's mine from my Dearborn 65 with a scheduled build date of April 19.
