1970 starter detailing

Hi , I have a Dearborn built 70 with a 351W , can anyone help with a picture of how a starter should look .  I have a re manufactured starter now all painted black, but would like to duplicate the looks of how they came from the factory. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

The finish would be painted semi-gloss black fading away to little or no paint in the area of the end aluminum spacer adapter surface to insure a good ground for operation. Remember the transmission /starter plate was painted in a similar fashion with engine blue

Starter cable stud would have had a mask slipped over it to protect its surfaces from paint

Band and paper/thin cardboard gasket as well as hardware would have been painted at the same time.

Main starter body would have had a engineering number, AUTOLITE and assembly date stamped in the main body on the upper surface (in mounting orientation)

Think you will find that the Search feature is your friend. These are just some of the results that popped up when using "Starter Paint"

Thanks for the reply Jeff, your help is always appreciated! I did start with a search but tried detailing instead of paint , will try more options next time.

No problem. Often have to try a few combinations that might make sense. I've been trying to provide what words I used to find what I do in responses to help other readers to consider combinations when they use the feature.
