Shift Lever Detail
« on: November 18, 2010, 05:24:45 PM »
I had my auto shift lever rechromed by Qual Krom (Great Work) and am getting ready to put everything back together. When I took everything apart, the bottom 2-3" was dipped in black paint. I have a shift lever form a Jan.'65 coupe that wasn't "dipped, so was this black paint something unique to the early cars or simply "some were and some weren't".

Secondly, how many of you go through the effort of replicating something that for all intent and purposes will never be seen? I'll duplicate the look because the cost will be minimal and it was original to my car but in the back of my mind I keep asking myself "Why?"

Just Curious,

Don't recall ever seeing one of those painted on the end.
