2 holes just "inside" of the inner bumper bracket bolts on '65
« on: November 26, 2010, 04:45:44 PM »
There are 2 holes with nothing in them about an inch inwards from the inner bumper bracket bolts, can anyone tell me what these holes are for? '65 July, Dearborn Convertible. (rear bumper area)

Is your Mustang a GT car? If so, the holes are for the rear bumper guards. GT cars as you probally know don't have rear bumper guards but the holes are there.

Yes, my car is a GT. This makes sense. is there no rubber plug that goes into these holes? otherwise they are basicly open to the elements-may be I've missed them??

Mine has seam sealer covering them.    Hopefully, someone can tell us if it's factory, or not.

I think Ford just had the assembly line workers cram a wad of "dum-dim" putty in the holes.

That is consistent with what I have found on 65 GT's.
