UPDATE 9/22/16 Restoration Updates - 6S033

We have started the restoration of 6S033 and should have rather regular updates on our Blog with a lot of pictures.  I'll post here when I post a new update.  The car is now on the rotisserie and has been stripped.  Check on more here

Brant - what panel is the one date (I believe this is the latest sheet metal date stamp on 6S033.  It is June 21, 1965.) on?

That latest date of 6 21 is on the LH Front Fender Apron. 

There is a 6 20 stamping on one of the inner rear wheel housings, but that 6 21 is the latest date that I saw on any of the sheet metal.  Oh, by the way, one of the hood hinges has a 6 21 date too.

On the front lip of the where the upper and lower cowl come together in the engine bay is usually a date stamp in the middle.  It would normally get covered by the self-leveling sealer.  I've found that date to be one of the latest sheet metal dates on other cars I've restored.

Thanks, Charles.  I'll have to check this area.  As long as it is not covered by the export brace reinforcement piece that is welded in that middle area.

Didn't think about the export brace reinforcement.  I'm guessing it would obscure the area.

Thanks Brand - you appear to be finding what we would expect on that period of San Jose cars.

As usual might be missing a few numbers from the frame area for the fenders (typical)

Did you find the writting on the front cross member or the taillight panel? To name a couple of locations

That's about it on the markings on the body.  I did not find anything on the tail light panel area.  Here is the radiator support.  It is like most I have seen.

Multiple K's are typical in my experiences, along with often a single "D"  though the person marking this car (normally one of three) might be the one that placed the D higher - possibly didn't like bending over as much ;)

Thanks and yes, that pitting/surface rust stuff came from the previous owner storing the car on more or less a dirt floor for many years.

I'm enjoying following this one too!  I like the "X" you pointed out (This "X" shows where a factory spot weld was supposed to be applied, but was missed.)  Don't remember seeing that too much before but now I found two on my 67!
