Cleaning Grime off Stainless
« on: July 28, 2009, 10:29:13 PM »
Getting ready to clean my window trim and there is alot of black grime/old weatherstripping/sealer attached in various places. Is there a quick easy way to get this stuff off, I want to get all that off before I begin polishing. Thanks

Use something like a plastic putty knife to get off the big pieces, then use lacquer thinner and a small brush to get the rest off.

My trim was loaded with the post-1969 goo, and it was a bear to clean off.  I used lacquer thinner, but scraped a lot off with a penny.  The penny is softer than the SS trim, and won't scratch it.
