Post by: Kiwi428 on December 08, 2016, 04:06:24 AM
Anyone know where you can purchase a new reproduction Yellow top coil with the correct "markings" FAC-12029-A 12 Volts Autolite "use with external resistor?
Looked on ebay but only found yellow tops no markings

Using "my best friend"  8) (a.k.a. The "Search Feature"), I came up with this thread:

It should help you as much as it did me.

An older coil if good, can be restored and that ink stamp replaced. There are places that will restamp the marking and individuals that will sell you restored units ready to go. This is the route many take since the dating on the stamp is somewhat specific

Does anyone remember the thread that listed the yellow paint that was found to match the original color very well, IIRC it was only sold in a six pack ?

It often isn't but its worth it once you find what your looking for and we don't have to do a 2nd or 3rd thread on the same info ;)

hi guys, did some digging through my receipts and found I bought the coil through All Classics back in 2005. After installing and attempting to start the car found the spark was weak and the coil got a little hot with the ignition left on while we checked things.
So will do some more tests and recheck it once I have reinstalled it.

If the points were closed with the ignition on the coil will get hot, normal. It can also shorten the life or ruin the points. It is generally not recommended to leave the ignition on [not running] for extended periods unless the coil + wire is disconnected.
