Title: LOWER BALL JOINT BOOTS, NOS pair C7OZ-3A105
Post by: 67gtasanjose on February 06, 2017, 08:51:18 AM
I Recently purchased these on eBay, and now they are FOR SALE HERE ONLY at my cost. I found out just this past weekend that I already had a pair but did not remember buying them (mine bought back in '97) so now these are back on the market.  Original listing a few weeks ago at http://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-Ford-Lower-Dust-Boots-C7OZ-3A105-A-Mustang-Fairlane-Etc-/182417487962?nma=true&si=t6QXjnE%252FZHe9XpC%252FytvI48ZWs0Q%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Pay me the cost I paid of $131.42, plus shipping to wherever you are and they are yours. Paypal Friends & Families keeps the fees down so we'll settle up there. Hopefully you are in the 48 states so this should be about $5 or so on the shipping.

If no takers right away, I'll relist them on eBay with same "cost" but PLUS theirs & Paypal FEES (so I'll begin eBay listing at $150 + shipping if they do not sell here), so your best chances if you need these are right here.

We had a set of NOS upper boots installed when we did our upper control arms and they cracked in one month. The car had never moved. Now we are starting over. I would be certain that the NOS boots were very pliable before using them.

THESE are very pliable, both sets (the ones for sale and the ones I already had)

Often times the cause of a torn boot could be because the pressed-in ring doesn't "spin free" on the ball joint stud. (not saying a boot couldn't be too old and dry either)  It is a good measure, before riveting your boots etc. together, to stretch the ring inside of the boot enough (of file the ring, your choice) to snuggly fit around the ball joint shaft, yet spin freely on the shaft also.I would say a thousandth or two of an inch clearance would do.  67289gta (John) had a similar problem occur with new reproductions boots and had to do a repair (file down)  AFTER riveting the assembly. It is a much easier task while the boot is off and separated from the ball joint.
