Title: 65 Oil Breather Cap
Post by: 66RavenGTCoupeAgain on March 16, 2017, 07:27:43 AM
Hi guys,
1965 SJ 289. Oct 64 build.
Just want to know if the one on the right is an aftermarket repro. The one on the left is Fomoco. As for the underside, the one with the legs is the Fomoco one. Is the original one supposed to have the kink in the neck of the tube?

If you reference the Mannel book (page 4-40) you can see that both the wide and tall versions of the emissions caps have kinks in the hose tube bends.
Haven't seen that repro.  Bend is not 90 degrees and it is not vertical.
This is the only repro I have laid my eyes on:
Regards,
Scott

Thanks Brian, you reminded me that the 65 I'm servicing for a driver had a Mr. Gasket breather that was empty, no filter!

I decided to make a large filter assembly and hide it inside the air cleaner because dirt can be ingested into the engine with a substandard filter since we have an open PCV system.
