5th Gen in Concours class starting in 2015?
« on: December 21, 2014, 11:39:41 AM »
Just read in some previous posts, that 2015 will be the first year 5th Generation cars are eligible for judging in Concours.  Still the case?

Thanks for any info,

Hadn't seen much chatter here  (last post on this subj quite a while ago).  As a new member I am getting up to speed. I will research what events are coming up, being in CA.

Here is the 2015 MCA class structure, as you can see there are no Concours classes for the 2005s. These cars will now have to be 20 years old before they can enter a Concours class. A new Unrestored class has been set up so that there is a place for these cars it is called a Perseveration class. They will also be a Occasionally driven class for them as well. More information on these and other changes will be forth coming in the Mustang Times.
Hope this helps
Marty

Just out of curiosity, I am wondering how a 2007 GT500 40th Anniversary would be judged in a concours event, given the fact it was originally delivered to the owner one way and sent to Shelby for the upgrades. I know this site is geared more toward the classics, so maybe this will be more pertinent in 20yrs:)

Thanks
Bill

Referring to the class structure Marty published above, that Shelby will be in SPC.

I understand that. My question stems from the fact it was delivered to the dealer as a GT500 and sold to the original owner, who later sent to Shelby for the 40th Anniv upgrades and badging. To my knowledge, all 40th Anniv were post title and never sold through the dealer. So, to be concours correct, technically would all of the 40th stuff need to be removed?

That's an interesting question with some technicalities that could make some heads spin.

MCA defines concours as the car was delivered to the original owner by the original selling dealership.

To get a definitive answer on the 40th add-on parts, I would suggest you contact Billy Henson, the 3rd-6th generation head judge.
