How to identify original bumpers?
« on: May 14, 2010, 11:24:31 PM »
So I am looking around for a good front bumper core.  The one that came with my car didn't fit well at the fenders.  I know it was a reproduction becouse I found the NORDAN sticker on the back side.  Is there some marking that would help me identify an original?  Its kind of hard to test fit a bumper when you find them at swap meets  ???

You should be able to tell an original from a reproduction just by looking at it. The condition will reveal much, look at the back interior side for older looking rust, minor surface rust is no big deal,  look for an older patina on the outside. Service replacements should have a C7ZZ sticker. www.tricityplating.com should have a 67, 68 original rechromed bumper in stock for around $300... could save you alot of time, shipping, waiting ect.
