1971 M Code engine VIN stamping
« on: August 25, 2015, 08:26:29 PM »
I have hired someone to go through the top end of the motor. during inspection he found the casting info in the usual spot (behind the starter) but he says he found numbers matching the last 6 of the vin on the drivers side near the intake. can someone expound on whether this is true.

it is a 4 barrel 351 Cleveland m-code. i also would like to know what markings or stamps for used on the trans and engine that i can verify if this car is numbers matching.

I do have the marti and the invoice sheet.

I have been told by several people that ford did not put anything vin related on their blocks in 1971, help please.

Originally a shortened version of your car's VIN (year, plant and sequential VIN) would have been stamped on your engine block and the transmission.

What type of trans does your car have?
