Speaker Grille/Windshield Moulding
« on: April 29, 2010, 11:11:59 AM »
Hey Guys,
On my std blue interior, I know the speaker grille is a darker blue that almost matches the dash pad.  Is the interior moulding at the bottom of the windshield that color, or is it the same light blue as the metal part of the dash?

The speaker grille and the 2 painted moldings are all the same color, which should be a close match to the dash pad color.

Hope this is relevant--I have a '66 that's also Nightmist Blue with a standard blue interior.  My interior is light blue, so this may be where the difference comes from.  When I got the car, it had never been redone, and the interior was original.  My speaker grille and windshield trim were light blue, and matched the metal portion of the dash and doors.

Should these pieces have been the same darker blue as the dashpad, then?  It's been several years since I restored this car, but I seem to remember pulling the metal windshield trim and the speaker grille and verifying that they were the lighter blue color before I resprayed them.  I could've sworn that both pieces were originally light blue, but I always thought it looked really strange to have a dark blue dashpad with a light blue speaker grille sticking out of the middle!  Either way, I'd love to know which color is correct!  Should I repaint these pieces the darker color?
Too much junk, too little time.
