67 390 S code (Missing screws in front of seat )
« on: June 02, 2010, 10:32:39 AM »
This was noted on my judging sheet when my Pink mustang was judged in Pensacola FL.  Is the screws supose to be in the seat frame or in the carpet some where.

Horace,

Typically but not always, the front carpet section was held down to the seat floor pans by two screws (1 on the drivers side and 1 on the passenger side)...where the section overlaps the back carpet section. I do not recall if your mustang had the deluxe interior. If it did, then the seat side shields may have been missing the attaching screws.

Regards,
Pete Morgan

Pete my Delux fiberglass seat backs and trim was not on the seats.  I did have them install and all the screw holes are filled with screws.  I can't find the two screws in the carpet,  can I place them any where alone the front under the front seat.

If your seat risers are original and have no holes, I would not install any.

Has the car had those panels replaced or repaired? If this is a possibility then the screw holes would not be there. Believe (from memory right this moment) the ones between the seat and the sill plate are about mid way - slightly towards the seat.

Hate to see you loose a point when a judge is expecting them to be there ;)

I've seen quite a few cars without screws and a lot of NJ cars have 1 screw right in the middle. It usually too late by the time you show it but if you take a pic of the original riser before the restoration it would be helpful. Otherwise before judging starts inform judge there was no screw hole there and you left it that way.
