1971 Mustang Ram Air Hood Option - Black Paint?
« on: March 15, 2016, 01:58:02 PM »
Has there been a consensus on this board previously as to the type of paint (available today) to use for the black out portion on my ram air hood? My shop will be getting near time to address this and wanted to know the type of paint I wanted to apply... I would like to keep this as close to original as possible, but keeping in mind that some paint applications are adverse to wax being applied to it.

Would like to know what people are using, what meets the minimum acceptance for MCA requirements and if possible, resist the waxing problems sometimes associated with the black out process on these hoods. Thanks

You may have already read the post on the 429 mega site from Alan who painted my car.  I have also heard of the use of SEM Trim Black with an HVLP gun.  I am not a paint and body guy so I will defer to the experts in those areas.
