~ 1969 Gas,Clutch and Brake pedal color
« on: October 17, 2016, 12:11:18 AM »
just want  to double check colors. Make '69 Metuchan built car has black brake and clutch but the gas pedal appears to be like a Gray or phosphate color. I automatically thought the 3 would be the same color but they are not. So....wondering if the colors are correct.

Thanks,
Dave

The brake pedal and clutch pedal are typically only partially black .They were dipped about 3/4 the way up + or -. the rest was bare steel. The gas pedal arm is phosphate and oil.

Thanks Bob.....that's exactly what I have. The two black pedals cleaned up nice and appear to be a semi-black (dipped part way). To me, the phosphate looks like a cast iron color(maybe a tad lighter). So that may be some of the only original phosphate that is in good shape. Never really knew what phosphate coating looked like.

Thanks,
Dave

+1

Could only find an example of a redone pedal assembly to illustrate Bobs comments

For others viewing this picture the pedals were installed originally AFTER the car was painted ;) What was done in the picture was for other reasons

Hello, does anybody knows what kind of black is used for the pedals : is it the "charcoal black" (used for the interior) or the "semi-gloss black" that we find in the engine bay ?
Thank you for the help !

Semigloss black similar to that used in the engine compartment and on other parts. The gloss level may vary depending on conditions when the part was dipped. The picture Jeff posted would be considered typical.
