69 mach 1 power brake distribution block

Whats the story behind this ? (what my pen is pointing at)  Its on a 69 power brake mach 1 I am resotring..

That extra fitting is not original.
Maybe a male/female adapter for a hard line fitting with the wrong thread.
That distribution block port is for the hard line running to the master cylinder port closest to the booster.

 I would agree it doesn't belong there but The fitting reads fomoco and has a c8aa-2b363-a   (hard to read My eyes are getting bad LOL)   but definitely ford part.  Never seen it before on cars I have done.

I have one on my OE set up.  Sept. 68 Metuchen car.  Been a while but the use or function is not clear but it is some sort of reducer.  Going from memory; looking at the inside, of the C8AA 2B36-A fitting, it has a very small aperture for the brake fluid. 1/8" or less.  Brian

I just happen to have my MPC (aka Ford Car Parts, 75 ed) out and C8AZ-2B363-A is shown as being used in 1969 on full size Fords, Fairlanes, Mustangs T-Birds and Falcons with power disc brakes and is called "Valve, Brake Pressure Impulse". No other applications or years.

Don't recall every seeing one of those nor recall reading a TSB article that indicated a change or fix related to one of those. Will go through the pictures though I expect to have the same findings

I have one like that and others that don't have it.  I know I did a car in the past that had one and I don't know the reason why it had it. I thought it was odd.

I don't really see what it does.  I first thought it was an adaptor for different threads but they are the same .  I guess I will leave it for now since it had it.

I never did find the exact actual reason why some of these are included or not on certain Mustangs.  I have a box of distribution blocks and some have the impulse valve and some don't.  Running the brakes with or without never seems to make a difference.

I haven't studied those impulse valve before so my question is does the orifice have a smaller diameter or the same? Other then the size of the orifice is there any inside (pressed in?) mechanical internals that can't be seen in the picture posted ?

Bob, I measured one of my examples with a drill rod, I got 0.075". Nothing inside, one piece brass.
