69-70 Mach 1 bucket seat question
« on: March 20, 2017, 03:52:54 PM »
The driver side seat in my 69 Mach 1 is for a 70. The seat back release lever is down low next the the hinge. Is it possible to convert the 70 seat to a 69 by relocating the release lever up to the middle area of the seat back? I won't be home for another couple of months otherwise I'd take it apart and see for myself. I know I haven't seen parts for that release mechanism available....only the frames and tracks for the most part.

It is possible, but you need the linkage from either a 1968 or 1969 driver side seat.

Hey Rusty, Ryan the 69 warranty pamphlet guy here
I bet your 69 seat broke so it was replaced with the improved 70 version
There was a recall on them and I have a pair of nos repair kits for them
They show up on eBay now and then but I'm not a number memorizer so I'd have to look at my parts

Hey Ryan......so you're thinking the repair kit might be able to convert a 70 seat to a 69?

No, no, it's for reinforcing or repairing the bracket that breaks too easily
Should be retrofitted to 69 high back buckets for safety
