Hi All,
Around what production number did the69 Mach I go from a light teak wood grain to a dark teak wood grain?

J_Speegle:
The change was indicated by a change in the interior coding. Been a while since I did a survey and think I would want to double check the dates were had established against all the new data to see if anything could be gained
J_Speegle:
Using Marti reports (since they include real build dates) as a basis for this survey and using just the interior code as the sole indicator- I came up with the following
Interior codes (for example) 3A to 3AA
Dearborn - between Dec 17th and 20th
San Jose - between Jan 8th and Feb 12
It appears that the use of the three digit coding was discontinued after approx. May 69 though this did not apparently mean that Ford went back to the earlier light wood grain pattern. Just one of those odd details uncovered in the survey.
Must report that actual cars observations do not always appear to match the code. This may suggest that the interior were swapped at some point or something else happened. One possibility is at the time of the change some cars received the wrong woodgrain for the interior coding or if there was a grouping of documented examples it was a supply issue.
Daven:
Thanks again Jeff! Once again great information! Is it true no one reproduces the light wood grain interior pieces?

I have an NOS light teak radio face plate that I have had for 40 or so years. I know about the 3A and 3AA interior codes but never knew the changover time frame. I only knew it was before April.
