Space Saver Spare trunk mount
« on: December 10, 2010, 11:34:28 AM »
OK, this will probably reveal how much of a rust problem I am dealing with in restoring my 72 Mach 1.  Does anyone know where I can locate the floor mount bracket for the Space Saver spare.  The large bracket that attaches to the trunk floor is rotted out on the backside in the middle.  It is not visible when the tire is attached or not easily visible when not.  I could probably take the time and fabricate a patch for the missing section to weld in, but I was hoping to locate an intact bracket.  The usual searches of Mustang Unlimited and NPD did not identify one.  Any suggestions or does anyone have a parts car with one they could remove?

Contact Don Witt at Ohio Mustang Supply. He may have one or be able to point you to a source. He has been very helpful to me.

Just provide a closure to this posting, Don at Ohio Mustang Supply came through for me.  He located the part I needed from a parts car.  The part has a little surface rust, but will be easy to cleanup.  It is a little bent out of shape, but I think a more talented metal worker than I could return it to the correct shape.  I don't know if this happened during the removal or if it may have been bent in the vehicle.  Either way, Don came through for me and I am appreciative.
