68 Factory Tach Ground Wire
« on: May 20, 2011, 07:22:59 PM »
When I installed my 68 tach, I had lost the ground wire so I had just made one.  I finally found it so I thought I share its details.  It is 8 3/8" long, Stamped on it is  C8ZB-19C661-A P SX FOMOCO.  I can not tell if there is a S or a 5 next to the X.

I don't understand; the tach only has an input and output line.  There's a light bulb illuminating the gauge, and a general ground wire to the dash through the dash cluster harness.  On the main harness, there's a ground line with a ring connector that goes to the chassis.

Are you talking about a tach on the hood rather than the dash?

The in dash factory 6K tach.  I Hope I did not hook it up wrong.  I can take a picture of how I hooked it up in a couple weeks when I have it out again.

Since only one of the ends is shown it's hard to tell but could it be the ground wire from back of block to firewall?

The factory tach has nothing like that, like Randy said it is lead in, lead out. Both are bullet connectors. It does kind of look like the firewall ground strap
