Nice!
So your car came without a radio?
I worked at a Ford dealer back then,
they would order a lot of cars without
a radio and we would install aftermarket units.
I have still have some of the take out delete plates
and antenna hole covers, are yours still in place?

I ordered one for my '91 Mercury Grand Marquis back in November.  Still waiting for it to come in!  How long did it take for you all to receive your reports?

Yes mine does not have a radio.  It has no speakers anywhere in this thing.  I was wondering why the Ford dealership did not order one??  It seems like a selling point!  I have the radio delete plate and the antenna hole cover.  The question I have always wondered was, why is the cover black when the antenna bezel on the 79 was Chrome?  In 82 they went to a black antenna bezel.

The reason the dealer would order the car without a radio was that they would install
aftermarket radios and make more money! That's unusual that your car still had the
radio delete, would think that most customers would want a radio in their car.

The antenna hole covers I have are chrome, maybe someone put a later cover on yours?

Did you work at Ford dealership  in 1979 on the 79 Cars?  If so, did the covers look like this?

This one has a D3 part # on it.  Thanks for your help!

The cover looks very similar on the exposed side but the bottom side
is much different, it has three locating tabs for the big hole and another
to the side. It has a D8BF-18A927-BA number on it which is 78 Fairmont.
These covers are also plastic and the foam padding has adhesive to hold it on.

I worked at the Ford dealership from 1976 to 1985 mainly in the parts dept
but worked in the service dept in "new car prep" for a couple of years from
1980 to 1982. I remember when the Pace cars came in, in fact the dealership
was in Indianapolis, we ended up having about 10 Pace cars. I was also in
the local Mustang club which we participated in the 500 festival activities at
the track and saw several of the festival cars that were driven around Indianapolis
for the month of May. They were all 5.0 automatics and were low serial numbers.

Matt, I hope you've got your report by now or an explanation as to why not.
I ordered one for my Niece's '86 GT Convertible and got it about 4 days later in December.....

I called them last month to get a status update and the lady I spoke with wasn't sure what the problem was and that she would email production.  Since then I have not heard anything.  I emailed them again a few days ago and still haven't received a reply.  I don't know what the problem is.  I'm going to have to call them next week.  Hopefully I can get somewhere.  I'm really surprised to be having this much difficulty w/ Marti.
