5 blade fan with aluminium blades, original?

(1/3) > >>

Buiaka:
Hi,

i bought my car (69 Mach1 351W with AC and FMX) with a 5-blade fan installed, but with aluminium blades. It looks like the originals look like (see picture). Was it original like this, with alu blades? I cant find a reproduction 5 blade fan with aluminium blades.
The reason is, i doubt that this 5 blade fan is 17". I tried to install a 6 blade 17" fan and it doesnt fit in my shroud, so the 5 blade must be smaller. There is no way to get the 17" fixed 6 blade from Flex-a-lite into my shroud. I even bought a smaller spacer, but still it doesnt fit.

Any help or ideas what 5-blade fan i got installed and why the 17" 6-blade doesnt fit? My radiator is the 3 row 24" original.

Thank you

regards

Christopher

Originally the C8SE-B was used (same one used on 69 Boss 302's) or C9WE-C depending on when the car was built

Engineering number should be on the fan blades or on the center hub area

This list was garnered from the MPC regarding shrouds, fans, spacers and clutches:

Boss 302 and 302,351W with a/c or x/c C9OZ-8146-A fan shroud marked C9OE-F for 24" radiator
Boss 302 and 302,351W with a/c C8SZ-8600-B fixed 5 blade fan marked C8SE-B (351W x/c fan same as std)
Boss 302 and 302,351W C8ZZ-8546-B fan spacer marked C8ZE-D
69 351W C9WE-C 7 blade clutch fan
69 351W C9WE-A fan clutch

The same two fans Jeff spoke of are in the list.

I have one C8SE-B (stamped on the steel frame) with aluminum blades
C9WE-C (stamped on the aluminum blades) is common on Cougar.
It's correct for 351W, but I'm not sure if it's for Mustang?
I have two of them, one with clutch and one without.

Remember that the MPC does not list (well always) what was original equipment but what Ford had at the time that would work for the application

The text that you posted is a great example of this fact

I guess the later the edition, the less factory original the MPC listings are then?
All the digital copies I've seen available are the final edition, circa 1975 IIRC?
Too bad there aren't earlier copies, or maybe I've overlooked them?
