Date Codes
« on: February 18, 2010, 10:53:47 PM »
Here's all the date codes I've collected so far while taking apart my Dearborn May 13, 1966 scheduled build date car. Interesting some dates where real early or real late. Spoke to the original owner and the car had been in a wreck on the front left side. Looks like they used parts from some other Mustangs. (But at least some original ford parts).
Thought I would share.

Dave

Can anyone tell me what the dash pad decodes as "K73 10 66"? Is it maybe the 10th week of 1966?
Thanks
Dave

Dave,

I assume that your rear bumper has a stamped date code (like a front bumper.)  Do you have a picture of this?  I am curious about the location of the stamp.  The early (64-early 65) original rear bumpers that I have inspected do not seem to be dated.  Maybe they started stamping them later or I am missing something.

Oh, your list is very nice.  Very good idea!

Most original 65-66 rear bumpers I have seen were reverse stamped and only seen with the bumper off the car.  I believe that a lot of service replacements were like this also.

Thanks, Charles.  Yes, I spoke too soon.  I see where it is now.  I guess that I was looking for something like is on the front bumper.

Brant,
Here's a pic of mine with bumper off, also had a rotation number. The same number is written in red on the rad support.
