1968 GT/CS California Special Project
« on: November 09, 2013, 04:37:03 PM »
I am selling my 1968 GT/CS California Special with a 289ci engine and auto transmision.Only 4118 California Specials were made in 1968 and its estimated that less than 2000 originals still exist. This Mustang came from Ford in the rare color of Pebble Beige with black interior. Due to the fact that this Mustang spent all its life in California and Nevada it still has original quarters, floors trunk floor and cowl has never been repaired.
I bought this car without any of the GT/CS fiberglass parts and now has: A used original trunk lid, trunk lid extensions,NOS side scoop it also has a new Dynacorn hood,Ford tooling fenders and new passenger door shell.
The original engine has been partially rebuilt but its apart and the original transmission (needs rebuild) is included in the sale.

Car is now sealed primed and ready for paint.
Interior needs to be completely restored
Marti report available
Price: $6,500.00

Before someone else asks and to help ;)

And was it a GT or non-GT?

Might want to just scan and post the Marti ;)

Good luck with the sale

I thought all GT/CS were GT's.  Isn't it part of its designation?

The GT option on the 1968 GT/CS was only available with the 302 or 390 ci engine (J ,X and S-code)  and if you can find an R-code...that had it too

Yep should have realized thaat :(

In general thought the posting of the Marti might help others gain some additional information about the original car - just a thought  ;)

Less than 10% of the just over 4K made were GT's. Most of the production are 289 2V auto 2.79 std int cars. With those verified stats there were J,S and X non GT. The only engine code that designated the GT option was the R... 3 GT/CS and 9 HCS. They are All cool 8)
