Is there a way to take the license plate lamp assembly apart and have it replated?

Sure.  Drill the rivets out and then tap the bulb socket out.  I have the correct squeeze rivets to put it back together.

Isn't the main part zinc dichromate and the inner part (glass housing) zinc?

Most I have seen are all zinc dichromate.

I'm putting together a small batch of zinc and zinc dichromate to take to the local plating shop next week.

Thanks Charles, I'll get it plated and have it ready for reassembly.
