Early Hipo exhaust question

Hello,    My car is a '65 fastback,  hipo, build date August 1, '64  5F09K250010........We have owned the car since '68. 
When I removed the original exhaust,  it did not have mufflers,   it had two larger resonators where the mufflers are located.
The parts looked similar to the rear resonators but were almost twice as large.

Has anyone here ever seen a hipo exhaust similar to my description?

you betcha. do a search here for 'arvinode'. that system is being reproduced.

thanks for your quick reply,    I did see the exhaust on CJs site and that looks very close to the original.   It states from Oct. '64 - March '65.......my car was built  Aug. '64 and had that exhaust from the factory.

It's possible someone liked the sound of the system (I certainly like the sound of mine) and put it on their new car very early in the car's history.

A 65 Gt A code that I acquired for a client has the original crossover section still in use.

The engine has Shelby headers, then 2 down pipes, the original crossover , then two resonators and pipe out the trumpets.

After reading this the resonators might be original, although I can't imagine they survived. 

Would the resonators have part numbers and/or a FoMoCo logo?

The transverse system would have been phased out around October/November of '64.  Wouldn't have been possible to be factory installed on a '65 GT since production for GT cars didn't begin until around March '65.  Also, the transverse system would have been only intended to be installed on K codes, since that was the only car at that time that could have received factory dual exhaust.

Ford serviced the transverse system, so possible it was retrofitted later.

Do you have a picture of the snubber plate under the car?  The rear frame rail pic is missing the upper carriage bolt/nut... or it is obscured in the photo.

Hello,   <<<Too early for Arvinode exhaust, should have been a transverse system.>>>   I have been in contact with the original owner and he states that nothing was done to the exhaust on the car from the time he picked up the car, until we purchased a few years later.   Also, he did not drive the car enough to replace tires, brakes, shocks or any other consumables.   

I can say that the original exhaust on my car did NOT have the rectangle supports on top of the 'mufflers',   the exhaust system was one pc. from H pipe back to the turn downs at the rear valance.   

The car does have the 64 1/2 hood & headlight buckets,  heater switch,  spare tire bolt.   The car is Rangoon Red with red interior.
