Valve cover ID
« on: July 02, 2015, 10:33:58 AM »
These are in the queue to be scrapped but I'd like to know what I'm throwing away -before- I toss them.  ;D

I'm thinking early 66 based on Bob Mannel's book but couldn't find the oil cap/breather.

Thanks...

Also 64 260 and 289, and 65 289. A bit of paint and some TLC, who knows, someone on the East coast may want to upgrade.

Thanks. They look better in the picture than they are otherwise I'd use them on my 65.  ;)  Pretty bent and twisted.

These have the TE cutouts so that's why I figured they are early 66.

Thanks for the post.  I have never seen an oil fill cap like that before.  Brian

There is a similar one in Bob Mannel's book page 2-23 that is used on very early 1962 Fairlanes. This one is slightly different as it has both OIL and Fomoco on the top and the rivet is inside.  I'm guessing it may be a version of a early 62 cap based on that info and probably not used on Mustangs?

I believe it is a B7A-6766-B cap, used on '57 and up Y-blocks (292, 312). Hard to find photos of one in a car. Here's on on a '57 Fairlane at a Barrett-Jackson auction.

I've volunteered to give it a good home.  ;D
