Route 66 Fest
« on: September 21, 2017, 10:51:28 AM »
Wondering if anyone here is coming to Springfield, IL for the Route 66 Mother Road Festival.
It's usually a big festival.  Lots of cars, and people.

We just returned from the cruise tonight.  Great time!  Just a guess but probably 2K cars in cruise this evening.  No official count as of yet so just take my number for what it is.  Whatever the number tons of cars on old Business 66 through town and huge crowds all along the route.  About anything you would want to see and I think every one involved was having a great time.

The official count of vehicles in the twilight cruise on Friday night was 2,451. The car show on Saturday had in excess of 1,200 cars registered according to published reports.  Nothing but positive comments.  Hope to see some of you there next year.

Would love to drive to this event next fall, even more-so if perhaps my 67 is roadworthy but then.

Is the date selected yet? In Geneva Ohio, where I live...we have a local event (Grape Jamboree) that is always held on the "Last FULL weekend of September", (meaning as long as both Saturday & Sunday fall in the last weekend of the month) and if by chance that is how the date of next year's Route 66 Fest is selected, unfortunately I most likely would NOT be able to make it. My business is within the downtown area where our event is located and I have vendors using my parking lot. (Boy, it would be nice if I had an employee whom I could entrust to helping me but...)
