The 1965 Mustang Body Assembly Manual (AM0006) pg 86 (the page number is blurred on my copy - ref N5-8930) shows the addition of the spare wheel plate, C5ZB-1424-A, and "hook" bolt, C5AB-1448-B, both with an effective date of 10-9-64.
This does not really establish an absolute date, but a Ford engineering change to an assembly line procedure. We know that Ford used up existing items in many cases.

Hey Mike

Wondering what you ultimately did to install your driver side mirror.  I have mine off.  The rear insert spins completely.  The front one spins a quarter turn.  I'd like to replace both of them with nutsert.  What tool do you have and what size nutsert did you use?

Hi Dave I have none dealt with my doors yet as I have been making no progress on my car recently. However I don't recall mine spinning. I will have to check and get back to you. Thanks for reminding me as it is on my to do list.

If your looking for an exact date we will not have that since we don't have real build dates for any of these early cars and if possibly varied a little depending on car assembly plant. We see that your likely looking for NJ built data

Yes there is a running changes thread on the subject by plant unfortunately given the area most of the NJ cars were sold to and the resulting rust in many of the examples we don't have as much examples that have not been repaired or restored. For example we've got San Jose (so far) down to late Jan 65 so basically early Feb is in the possible range also.

Thank you for the answers.  Would the comfort-weave seat option for a 1968 fastback be listed in the Marti Report?

Fun facts

Comfortweave was not used on convertibles (including Mustangs)

GT500 KRs fastbacks with black interiors got the comfortweave

There was no saddle comfortweave in Shelbys

The thickness of the Masonite used in the factory installed filler boards seems to be unobtainable.  Has anyone found a source for what I measured as 3/16" ? The current available  reproductions are a bit thicker than the originals.
The material available today is probably a metric equivalent . There are examples of other repro parts that are slightly thicker, larger etc. and the explanation by mfg's when asked has been that it is a metric equivalent of what is available. This all started about 25 years ago or at least when I started to first notice changes in different repro parts.

ran into the non sticking nutsert problem while installing a visor over the windshield on my truck. used a small dab of j-b weld to hold it still. i did not use the quick type. worked quite well.
