Title: Restoring convertible top
Post by: BKnapp on May 21, 2016, 05:34:14 PM
I have a black convertible top that is just starting to discolor a little bit. Has anyone found a product to darken or preserve the coloring?

Thanks,

Don't call me crazy... But its rumored that KIWI solid (not liquid) Black Shoe Polish in the circular tin works extremely well.  Don't shoot the messenger.

Not crazy, just using your smarts. Swabbies and Jarheads know all about Kiwi in the can. It's wax based (good for shoes too).

I'm guessing this is NOT a good choice for my Parchment/Camel-colored convertible roof! I too have been noticing a bit of darkening in some areas, mostly where the top folds. Maybe another KIWI product color could work here too ?

There are other shades, "Neutral" for one. Kiwi is probably the only one universally used by US Military personnel. Do not try the old light a match trick on the can near your car. That's a hint.
