Title: Fuel Sending Unit for Mustang V-8 1979
Post by: Texas Swede on March 29, 2017, 09:25:19 AM
Hi guys,
A friend of mine in Sweden and owner of a 1979 Mustang V-8 Hatchback needs a new
fuel sending unit as the original one marked D9ZF-9275-CA failed. He said a thin wire broke off
and the material wasn't possible to solder.
Any idea someone where I can find one for him.
Thanks,
Texas Swede

There are several companies who rebuild them. Check Hemings under gas tanks or gauges. Some guys end up upgrading the gas tank to a newer model. 83-86 EFI uses one type. 87-93 uses a different type and the gauge reads in reverse. The early Fox bodies used a smaller tank.

It took me a long time to find an NOS one.  I had to pay $230.00 for it!   Here it is.  It does not look like there is much to it, so they probably can be rebuilt.

Thanks guys,
Haven't found any for him yet and repair in the States is not an option for him at this moment as the season
starts in Sweden and he wants to drive the car over the summer. He has tried to repair it himself but to no avail as there
seems to be a very strange metal which he couldn't solder.

Hi again,
Just talked to my friend in Sweden and he has found a sending unit over there and is waiting for it
to arrive. Thanks to all you who gave advice.
