I am putting together a spare rear end and would like to be as correct as possible. Need some help with the ' machined surface ' on the RF-C5AW-4668-C Daytona Pinion Support. Does it paint, is primer color, or does it stay natural ? The rest of the body should be red primer ? The Yoke body is semi-gloss black with the collar zinc oxide ? Bolts are black oxide ? Asking for corrections. Thanks Brian

it is my opinion that machined surfaces always stay bare looking as if they were done yesterday. nice & fresh.

I have always seen the yoke shield a bare steel and not plated silver or painted silver as in the picture.

What I have seen is the part was painted the red oxide color then machined, so yes natural metal. The bolts would be I think phosphate/oil, dark gray/black color. The slinger is natural metal as is the yoke. Was yours painted black already/ Does it look like factory or somebodies handy work? If your lucky you might find some paint marks on the yoke, found some on my Cyclones yoke

Great. Appreciate the pictures. Pinion body was painted separate from the N case and will be a shade different Red Primer. The yoke shield, pinion machined surface and probably the yoke itself are bare steel. The snubber bracket is also left bare steel. The bolts ( 5 ) are black zinc dichromate. Observations; the snubber bracket metal does not seem to be prone to rust/corrosion while the machined pinion surface and in particular the Shield are ? Thanks for all the help. Brian
