Title: 66 A code NJ - Engine Decal placement
Post by: 66RavenGTCoupe on April 06, 2014, 09:32:35 PM
Hi all,
I thought I would start this thread here as I figured that different workers in different plants may have placed some of these decals differently.
It would be great if some original car photos could be posted up on here for us all to see. The ones that are mainly in question are the air cleaner decals if anyone can help. My car was built on 7th Dec 65 so anything around there would be great.
Thanks,
Dan.

Checked my pictures and all the best examples are from April to the end of production :(

I would not mind seeing the earliest (April) ones for locations if you could Jeff.

I have a MAR 15 66 Metuchen Conv't.  Jeff helped me confirm a couple years ago that the silver decal on the right shock tower in-fact, goes vertical so you can lean over the fender and tilt your head to read it.

The air cleaner DID NOT have the arched Autolite decal on top.  It had the rectangular one on the left side.
MY 289 2V decal has orange/black checks and NOT white/black.

Hey there bryancobb,
Thanks for your response. I can second the positioning of the sliver decal as I had that one and made a template of it's position. It too was greatly skewed down on the left side from a vertical position (Starting at 7 o'clock position) I also had the clear remains of the glue of the Autolite straight decal on the drivers front side of the air cleaner and not a curved one on top. Mine is a 298 4V so I have the white/black checks on the 289 premium fuel decal.
Was mainly wondering about the "part number", "genuine parts", "front" and "crankcase ventilation" decals.
Can anyone help me on any of these four?
Thanks in advance,
Daniel.

Ok will throw these out there for you to evaluate and apply what you feel comfortable with ;)

Don't think there was a FRONT used - more likely the filter part number in that location as one of the pictures show and nothing on the valve/breather cap

As mentioned - didn't find anything on the lids except the CU In decal the one on the side replaced the one at the back on the lid

Hope this helps - did have to throw in a bunch of C codes but believe that they are pretty much the same pattern
