The rear insert spins completely.  The front one spins a quarter turn.  I'd like to replace both of them with nutsert.  What tool do you have and what size nutsert did you use?

They "spin" seems to be typical. As to size, it's listed in this forums library under topic "Mustang Hardware Spreadsheet, 67-68" in file MHW67-68AP.xlsx (by application) sorted so you look up "Mirror". Then go to Amazon and find a "nutsert" for that size and the tool. Be prepared for "sticker shock".
(A sign in a speed shop I used years back in my "drag racing" days said, "Speed costs money. How fast can you afford to go". The same applies to "restorations")

Thanks Jeff I have the Nutsert tool, I just need to make sure that I use the right size Nutserts

Wondering what you ultimately did to install your driver side mirror.  I have mine off.  The rear insert spins completely.  The front one spins a quarter turn.  I'd like to replace both of them with nutsert.  What tool do you have and what size nutsert did you use?

Very old thread but I'm trying to get a handle on the etching on my side door mirrors.

My driver side is etched 12-DMI-7
My passenger door mirror which I have no documentation confirming when it was installed is 6-DMI-7

The base my passenger mirror is C7AB17743 A. Below that is 15 15 53 1

What do these numbers tell you?

I took off my driver side mirror. It put up a good fight because the rear screw spun in place since the insert was loose. After taking off the inside door panel and with a struggle, I was able to get the rear nut out. I'll have to determine how to secure the rear insert.

But my point is the base of the driver side mirror is marked the exact same as the passenger side. C7AB17743 A and below that 15 15 53 1

Does that mean they are from the same batch of mirrors of were all mirrors for multiple years marked the same?

Any pictures showing correct mounting hardware for a ram air 71 to 73 hood? Building a car for a friend using repo hood and repo plenum. It looks like phillips screws are used all around, this has bolts at intake ducts. Front of it.

The Application notes for each of the NPD Mounting Kits call out the Phillips head screws for 67 SJ cars; and hex head for Dearborn.  I'll go with Phillips for my SJ car.

I am restoring a 1968 Mustang fastback GT with black decor interior.  Were comfort-weave seats available in non-Shelby 68 fastbacks or just the smooth vinyl?

I've seen the slide plate on early February '65 San Jose cars, so the TSB is generally correct.

I guess you didn't find the block assembly date (short block heads etc.)since you only talk about the block casting date.You want the C6OE version based on the time frame you laid out and conformation from the Bob Mannel.

My Dec SJ had the phillips head screw type for this situation.
