71-73 chrome vs. plastic bumper
« on: May 18, 2010, 10:34:26 PM »
I have a 71 fastback with the chrome bumper.  I've always wondered what the differentiator was for chrome vs. plastic.  Seems like most of the cars I've seen locally have plastic bumpers.  I know the 5 mph bumper law didn't go into effect until September 72.  Maybe this was an option?

The urethane bumper was used on the Mach I bodystyle (05) only and the chrome bumper was used on the regular Sportsroof and Boss 351 bodystyles (02). Someone please correct me if this is not right.

oops, sorry, my bad, you are exactly right. I just didn't think of the vert body styles. Thanks for replying on this one.
