Deluxe Interior Coupe Quarter Trim Corner Caps
« on: April 02, 2019, 09:07:40 AM »
Another question since we are in this area is the front trim caps on the 65B deluxe panel.  I saw in johns picture above a chrome trim cap on the front of the panel. The cap I am familiar with is a textured and painted cap. I looked in the 67 and 68 assembly manuals and found the same numbers for both years. Is it possible the early 67s used the chrome like a 66 then latter changed to the textured metal like the 68s?

I believe that we will discover that the early 65B panel was incorporated into the service part for all and yes, my early 67 65b deluxe has the chrome caps similar to a 66 Pony interior but they are different. The 68 cap has a vinyl texture on the caps if memory serves. Perhaps the "After April '67" date, the 67's did too. Just another lovely running change and I think out MPC's are not helping us because the Service Part number change.

I will be watching all 3-details from now-on.

Yes, but, don't know when.
The textured ones have part numbers C7WY-6531491-A and C7WY-6531490-B. Ford called them "Cap - quarter trim panel upper". Commonly found on 1967-68 Mercury Cougars. But also 1968 Ford Mustang with Deluxe trim code 65B or 65D.

Marty took a look through my pictures and could not find an example where in 67 they installed anything but the chrome version. Highest/latest VIN's for each plant that I have pictures of are as follows

7F01S23291x
7T01K20447x
7R01C22307x

For reference this is the part that is being discussed

I am currently doing a August 11 1967 (last day of Metuchen production) 67 coupe that has the original chrome corner caps if that helps. Paul
