68 Metuchen 289 C Code Radiator Cap
« on: July 17, 2022, 02:45:58 PM »
I read some posts that mentioned the 2 "concours" correct radiator caps offered by NPD,  one with chrome rivet and the other with zinc gold colored rivet. Which is correct for my car?

Believe your asking so you can choose between the large rivet versions that are being reproduced

If you want to be original then neither. Appears that NJ that year used what is referred to as the "Dearborn" radiator cap with the small rivet.

Here are three examples of the cap from 68 NJ cars.

Suggest you purchase one of the incorrect ones with the brass rivet as a place holder until you can find a correct one.

Oh my.  That is not at all what I was expecting.  I believe they have it at NPD as pictured. Is this the one?

Thank you Jeff.  I wasn't able to find this info anywhere,  at least when I was searching.  Thank you again.

Yes that appears to be an attempt or a version that has been reproduced. If slightly different as we can see from the top and clearest example I posted
