Galvanized parts engine
« on: January 10, 2018, 05:15:56 PM »
Hello guys,

As you can see on pictures in attached quote, original valve covers and the filler cap on my 289 ci, seems to be galvanized ...
My car is an 1965 model (25J) and color code engine should be Black and gold !?

Do you ever seen that kind of valve covers before ? Aftermarket parts ?

Thank's

Franck

Pictures are of dirty valve covers from afar so hard to tell the finish. Galvanized would have a less consistent finish across the covers IMHO that what I'm seeing on my monitor.

Seems the drivers side breather cap is the same finish though it appears to be an aftermarket piece so did a PO paint it along with the valve covers at some point?

If you have access to this car see if you can polish an area think it might be a cheap/quick chrome plating job without all the multiple layers

Look for date stampings in the metal would be another thing I would look for
