65 Axle End ID ?
« on: June 05, 2020, 11:19:50 PM »
65 Axle End ID seems to be:  ?4OW 8 -A ?  Not clearly readable and not in any of my source books.  May be a replacement.  Differential tag is pictured but hasn't helped with the axle id.  Any one familiar enough to ID this Left side axle ?  Car info below.  Thanks, Brian

MPC shows the WCZ-F as a 28 spline (axles match) eight inch 3.00-1 rear end.

Coding was used from 1965 until 1970.

Of course the tag identifies as being assembled  May 65 third week

Kevin Marti's Tag Book adds (if you apply the date/time period identified)

WCZ-F as a 65 A code rearend identified with a "1" on the door tag (same goes in later year but the date narrows it down for your purposes)

Hope this helps

Thank you Jeff.  Taking a look at the Right side axle end does not help to clear up my axle end question.  The Right side axle end reads ?4OW??.  Also difficult to read.

What do you want to know about the axle?  Just the engineering number that was likely cast in the outward facing center section? From the other information we could fill in the blanks of the specifications, length and such since we identified the application. We know the number of splines it should have

Yes.  I am unable to read the complete cast ID on either axle end.  Brian
