69 Hood Pins
« on: March 27, 2015, 08:28:15 PM »
Hello All,

I just recently picked up a set of hood pins for a 69. I believe they are original. Just curious to know if there is a way to identify them as original?
Weight, diameter, markings? (BTW I'm looking for the lanyard cables and attaching rings as well) I have the rest of the set.

Thanks!

On this subject I would be keen to know the overall length the radius and the distance from the top to the hole and the diameter
Thanks Kim

I saw a fellah selling the lanyards on eBay for a "healthy sum", just the other day.  I got the impression that he had a bunch of them and was possibly reproducing them.  Sorry I don't have a link to share.

Here is the link for the lanyards;

I have bought a reproduction pair, the difference from original is the plastic covering on the cable has not yellowed over time. The crimp is the same as original.

That looks like what is on my car ~ although mine is a '70 and so they aren't factory.

Hi Again,

I picked a couple of original clips and lanyard cables the other day. The cables are shot, so I'm going to need to replace them. The link to replacement cables on eBay posted by Aussiemach looks like they will work, but I curious to know how to replace them on the clips. It feels like the clips are spring loaded into the pin, but do they open far enough to slip the new cables in place? I'm thinking the cables were attached and secured separately when new. This is kind of confusing, but maybe some can help.
Thanks
