Opinion on replacment shocks for 1967

 Hi all, I am in the market for repro "as close to original" shocks. Any one have opinions on where to find these and their results in ride quality?? I know I can just get Monroe shocks and paint them to be "close" but maybe someone is making nice repro's of them?? I checked a few suppliers and most everyone is carrying the KYB's (which is what i currently have on the car). With everything stock, I feel I have a "harsh" ride due to the performance shocks installed..

Not a lot of selections.. I bought a set of reproduction shocks for my 64 1/2 that look correct, (minus the stampings), and the ride is great and comfortable. I might end up going with the tried and true Monroe-matics as they are quite affordable, ride nice, and look close to the originals. But, waiting to hear what others have found.

I also see that Gabriel makes a standard shock sold through Autozone for $20 each. I will say I put a set of Gabriels on my 71' F100 but after 5-6 years, and not many miles, they were shot.. Not the quality of the Monroes.

Keep in mind the KYB Gas-Adjust shock is quite a bit stiffer than their cheaper GR2 line which is probably more in line with the original feel. I would avoid the blue Monroe cheapies - too mushy and bouncy.

I have not used them myself. Some S.D. products are very good.

Remember, about 70% of what Drake sells under his brand name is re-packaged. So chances are: If Drake offers them, someone else does as well and they are the same if you had negative feedback on the item.

in stock have a extra pair of NOS front shocks, that came in a collection of parts I got some time ago.

box number; C5ZZ-18124-B
part number on shock; C6ZF-18045-A3

one has a date code of 7HC the other has 7BB

I believe these are correct for non GT cars but happy to be corrected if they have other uses.

think I may have a used set of 67 dated front shocks as well

Cheapy Monroe's might be mushy and bouncy but I'm sure they are better than using Kyb shocks with repro Goodyear Powercushions! Lol!
The "original" type shocks I used for my 64 1/2 restoration could have been Scott Drakes but I haven't located the reciept yet to confirm. That car has repro straight treads on it and rides very comfortably for how it set up and it's use. Since I don't drive the cars everyday I'm searching for a period correct looking shock without the harsh ride I have know.
  Thanks for the offer on the original shocks but since I am not showing the car those shocks would be better suited for someone who does.. Thx!

But IMHO the easiest ones to pick out (visually) as being aftermarket.
