The Ford Master Parts catalogue shows that there is a difference.
Coupe and convertible are the same but the fastback is different.

Because of the angle of the steering column in a sportroof/fastback the bottom trim panel and the donut are different

I always wondered why this part was supposedly different ... learned something new today !!

So is the steering wheel closer to the seat on the sportsroof or are the seat platforms lower as well to make up the difference.   Id guess there must be some spacers or different hardware under the dash where the wheel mounts also.   Any difference in the firewall ??

Fascinating stuff ... thanks.

Believe you will find that the sportroof/fastback used an additional aluminum spacer between the steering column and the bottom of the dash which changes the orientation/angle of the column while in turn producing more space above the column and between it and the base of the dash
